This broadcast of monks chanting the Ratana Sutta from the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Sacred Temple of the Buddha’s Tooth Relic) aired in real-time on state networks to sanctify and sonically protect Sri Lanka during the pandemic. It is framed and punctuated by narration which is overlaid in the video, which states: “For all Sri Lankans, and for the entire world: to remove the fear of disease, the fear of inhumanity, and the fear of famine, the Lord Buddha lucidly preached the Ratana Sūtta from His Blessed mouth.”
